Wheelchair Lift
A wheelchair lift is a platform lift that carries a wheelchair and its user over a short rise — a flight of entrance steps, a threshold, a change of level inside a building. It needs no pit, fixes to a concrete slab, works outdoors, and can be called by remote control. Prawita Karya supplies and installs them in Indonesia.
What to know about wheelchair lift
The problem this solves is usually a few steps, not a few storeys. An entrance with a flight up to it, a raised lobby, a threshold between inside and out: short rises that a ramp cannot always fit and a lift is too much building for.
The platform is skid-proof stainless steel with an automatic turning plate, so a wheelchair can be pushed straight on and taken off at the side, at 90° or at 180° depending on where the lift sits. Entry and exit are configured to the geometry rather than the other way round.
It is built for outdoor duty as much as indoor — rated from −20 °C to 60 °C — and fixes directly to a concrete floor at least 200 mm thick with no pit. Controls are by button or remote, which matters where the user arrives alone.

Does a wheelchair lift need a pit?
