What to know about elevators
Elevator selection is an engineering decision before it is a purchasing one. The right specification depends on how many people the building must move at peak, how many floors they travel, and what else shares the shaft — beds in a hospital, trolleys in a hotel, pallets in a warehouse.
Getting this wrong is expensive and difficult to reverse. An under-specified group produces long waits at peak and shortens equipment life; an over-specified one raises capital and running cost for capacity the building never uses. A traffic analysis carried out before the shaft is poured is the cheapest form of insurance available.

Common questions
What elevator capacity does a building need?
Capacity follows from a traffic analysis: the population served, the number of floors, and the peak five-minute demand. A residential tower and an office building of identical height can need very different equipment, because their peak patterns differ. Prawita Karya can carry out this analysis during design.
What is the difference between a passenger and a bed elevator?
A bed elevator has a deeper car so a hospital bed, its attendants and equipment can be moved without tilting, and its doors and levelling are specified for rolling loads. A passenger elevator of the same rated load is usually too shallow for this.
How long does an elevator last?
Service life depends far more on maintenance and duty than on age alone. Well-maintained equipment commonly runs for decades, with control systems typically reaching obsolescence before the mechanical installation does — which is why modernization often replaces controls rather than the whole installation.
