Project scope
Mal Artha Gading is one of the larger malls in North Jakarta, opened in Kelapa Gading in 2004 and laid out around seven themed atriums running the length of the building. Prawita Karya installed six SJEC escalators and three elevators there, and maintains every escalator, travelator and elevator in the mall — including the equipment it did not supply. Maintaining a mixed installation is a different job from maintaining your own: the technicians have to carry parts and fault knowledge across several manufacturers, and the building deals with one contractor rather than one for each brand on site. The seven atriums are themed — Nusantara, China, India, Persia, Italy, Paris and Millennium — and run the length of a building of roughly 270,000 m².
