Solo Paragon

Project scope

Solo Paragon is the retail component of a mixed-use superblock on Jalan Yosodipuro in Banjarsari, Surakarta, sharing its site with the Solo Paragon Hotel & Residences. Prawita Karya installed six SJEC elevators, six escalators and six travelators. The travelators are the detail worth noting: inclined moving walks exist in retail so a shopper can keep a loaded trolley with them between levels, which an escalator cannot do. The superblock covers about 4.1 hectares and the mall roughly 60,000 m² over five floors, which makes it the largest retail floorplate in Surakarta. Sharing a site with a hotel and serviced residences means the vertical transport carries three kinds of traffic — shoppers, hotel guests and residents — inside one building envelope. Prawita Karya still holds the maintenance contract for the installation.
