Working in Tangerang

Mall CBD Ciledug is the biggest escalator and travelator package we have installed anywhere: 24 escalators and 20 travelators in one building. Retail on that scale runs its equipment every trading hour, so the work that follows installation matters more than the installation — servicing has to happen around opening times rather than instead of them.

Courts BSD took three elevators and six travelators. Inclined moving walks exist for one reason in retail: they let a shopper keep a loaded trolley between floors, which an escalator cannot. Where a building specifies them, the choice is usually about how people leave the shop rather than how they arrive.

The pattern here changed with the area. The early work was retail and market buildings, from Carrefour at CBD Ciledug in 2007 through Grand Dadap City and Balekota Mall; since 2019 it has been mostly single-lift buildings — private houses in BSD and Alam Sutera, a ruko in Bintaro, offices in Gading Serpong and Karawaci. A single-lift building has no second car to fall back on, which is what makes response time the whole of the service question there.
